What is an EPC?
When approval for loft insulation is set, you can generate a free Energy Performance certificate. It will tell you how energy efficient a building is and will give it a rating from A to G. EPCs is valid for 10 years from when issued.
If you own a home and you want to either buy or sell, getting an EPC can improve the way in which the process is handled. It can advise you on ways to save your money on your energy bills and can also improve the comfort in your home.
The process of getting an EPC
If you are an older building, a way to getting an EPC is through a free loft insulation. By doing this it can also mean you save on energy bills as the heat within your home is naturally stored inside, rather than escaping.
Before you actually get this done, there are a few steps to see whether or not you will be eligible for an EPC and an insulation service.
- A qualified assessor/surveyor will attend, survey your property and advise you of your options
- Any home insulation is installed usually within 14 days
- You will be given your free EPC (please note, this must be supplied when buying or selling a home)
What does insulation do for you?
When heat rises in an un-insulated home, a quarter of your heat is lost through the roof. Insulating your loft is a very effective way to save that waste and reduce your heating bills.
Loft insulation is effective and can last for at least 40 years, and it will pay for itself over and over again in that time.
