The importance of the ‘red brick’

Liverpool Networking Breakfast

The weather threatened again in Liverpool but this time over 80 people attended the re-arranged FBE breakfast in Liverpool at a new venue at the Piazza Café, Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on 4 February which was a very informative presentation by John Flamson and Stephen Dickson from the University of Liverpool on the  importance of the ‘red brick’ University to the city region and reflect on what this meant for the development sector and an outline of the  proposed Estates Strategy and Capital Plan developments

John and Stephen are both very accomplished speakers and were very clear and honest about the plans for the University despite the threatened cuts in the higher education sector.

FBE in the North West has a full calendar with active branches in Manchester and Liverpool. Most of the events are confirmed and details are on the website.

Phil Osborne of Curtins has been the (founder) Chairman in Liverpool for nearly 2 years and stands down after leading the Liverpool Branch to ‘Branch of the year’ in 2009 given that they secured the highest number of new members. He thanked his committee and members of FBE and hands over the branch to Maggie Mullen of Austin-Smith: Lord who takes over for the next event on 25th February at her offices, details of which are on the website. Maggie is supported by Roy Gronow of Entwistle Group as Vice Chairman.

Details of the University of Liverpool presentation can be downloaded by clicking here.
