Leicester Lunch Event – 23rd April 2009

Sunshine, St George and Leicester’s City Rooms seemed to provide the perfect ambience for nearly 40 delegates at FBE’s East Midlands Branch meeting on 23rd April 2009. The fact the meeting was the day after the budget was also conducive to achieving the packed house, and for speaker Charles Amies, head of investment for the newly formed Homes and Communities Agency, who was able to reveal a lot more about the Agency’s investment plans for the region, following Alistair Darling’s announcements the day before.

Peter Watson of civil engineers Danaher & Walsh together with Nic Jepson, from developer William Davis Ltd helped stoke up the questions from the floor, with delegates keen to learn about the Agency’s ‘kick start’ programme and ‘single question’ facilitating policy.

A delicious buffet lunch in this stylish venue, served to support some good networking, with Chairman Adrienne Vaughan dishing out button holes of red roses – sponsored by AVA PR –  for the committee to wear in honour of St George – and be recognised, as the new membership drive continues here in the East Midlands.
